| Bev Lowry was raised in a Christian
home and her parents taught her to sing gospel songs before she could
walk. As a result of this godly home environment, she recognized early
in life her need for God's forgiveness and accepted Jesus Christ as
her personal Savior.
Married
at the age of nineteen in 1953 to Charles Lowry, they have three
wonderful children, Michael, Mark and Melissa. Mike and his wife,
Natashia, have four children, Christopher, Courtney, Chad and Chelsea.
Melissa and her husband, Charlie, have two sons, Zachary and Will,
and daughter Katelyn. Will is in Heaven. He was born prematurely
and lived 19 days. Mark is Bev and Charles' son who was with the
Gaithers for 13 years. Bev and Charles are very thankful that all
three children love God and serve Him faithfully.
In 1978 her husband, Charles, closed a successful
law practice in Houston, Texas, and they moved to Lynchburg, Virginia.
In 1980, at the age of 46, Bev entered Liberty
Baptist College (now Liberty
University) and graduated summa cum laude four years
later. She received a Master's Degree in Education from Lynchburg
College. She has also completed nine hours in Child Development
at the University of Virginia.
She was
a psychology professor at Liberty University for over 17 years.
She taught a thorough discipline including, above all else, the
Christian perspective. Bev believes that psychology does not make
any sense unless you put Jesus in the subject.
A featured
soloist on the "Old Time Gospel Hour" for several years.
